Trains to and from Mackay Airport (MKY)
Trains are the fastest ground transportation, especially for long-distance travel. Trains provide a convenient, comfortable, sustainable, and budget-friendly way to enjoy a destination trip.
Mackay's railway station is on the North Coast line in Queensland, Australia. It serves the metropolitan area of Mackay. The station has one side and one south-facing bay platform. Opposite the station is several sidings forming part of a transshipment yard north of the station.
The original Mackay station opened in 1885 on Tennyson Street. Then, in 1924, it was relocated to the street of Boddington.
In the 1990s, the old rail bridge over the Pioneer River was replaced. It was an opportunity for the city to re-align the railway line to detour at the Mackay Central Business District.
In 1994, the new alignment opened with the new Mackay railway station in the outer suburb of Paget.
Presently the train Station is served by Traveltrain's Spirit of Queensland service. It is 5 km south of the city center. The Spirit of Queensland train stops in Mackay en route between Brisbane and Cairns.
Despite Mackay having a railway station, Mackay Airport is not accessible by train.
